About fullerene: fullerene, like diamond and graphite, is a carbon allotrope (a substance whose molecule is formed by one element). The discovery of fullerenes in 1996 was awarded with the Nobel Prize in Chemistry. Fullerene got its name from its resemblance to domes built by the American architect Fuller.
