- Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate (APS) 3% is a vitamin C derivative with excellent penetration and stability. It suppresses excess sebum, lessens pores appearance, and restores density through collagen production. Compared to pure vitamin C, it is less prone to oxidation and is converted into vitamin C within the keratinocyte, making it one of the most popular derivatives. It is generally used as a skin-regulating ingredient to improve skin texture, and is less susceptible to oxidation than ordinary vitamin C.
- α-arbutin is a stable form of the well-known hydroquinone that is safe even for sensitive skin. Arbutin has been approved by the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare. It inhibits the production of melanin, which causes spots and pigmentation. Arbutin inhibits the activity of the tyrosinase enzyme, which produces melanin, and gives an excellent whitening effect. KISO thoroughly compared α-arbutin and β-arbutin in selecting arbutin. KISO selected α-arbutin, which is said to be 10 times more effective in beautifying skin than β-arbutin and has high stability.
